KETCHIKAN (KDN) — At about 5:58 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Race to Alaska team We Brake For Whales crossed the finish line at Thomas Basin, lowering its dark sails as onlookers at the Baranof Fishing Excursions dock waved, cheered and even blew a horn to welcome them. We Brake for Whales is a team of eight people hailing from Seattle and Bainbridge Island.
